Job Title: Play Therapist

Location: Alia Autism Center / AlMaali Medical Center, Bahrain

Job Summary

The Play Therapist uses structured and therapeutic play techniques to help children express emotions, improve behavior, and develop social and coping skills. The therapist works with children with autism, behavioral, and communication difficulties, supporting their emotional and developmental growth through play-based interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct play-based assessments to identify emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Develop individualized play therapy plans tailored to each child’s goals.
  • Use therapeutic play techniques (e.g., sensory play, role-play, creative arts) to promote communication and emotional regulation.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to support progress.
  • Maintain session records and progress reports in line with clinical standards.
  • Provide guidance to parents on reinforcing therapeutic strategies at home.
  • Participate in case discussions, staff meetings, and parent workshops.
  • Ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive therapeutic environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Child Development, or related field.
  • Certification or formal training in Play Therapy (preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children, especially those with autism or developmental disorders.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and observation skills.
  • Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our multidisciplinary team. The OT will assess, plan, and implement individualized therapy programs to support children and young adults in developing fine motor, sensory processing, and self-care skills necessary for daily functioning and participation in school and community settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments to identify sensory, motor, and functional skill needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy programs.
  • Work collaboratively with special educators, speech therapists, behavior analysts, and parents to support holistic development.
  • Design and adapt classroom and therapy environments to meet students’ sensory and physical needs.

Qualifications
