Reporting to: Deputy Head of School of Nursing & Midwifery
Principle Accountabilities:
• Support the academics in planning and conducting clinical assessments and delivering simulation and clinical skills practical sessions.
• Coordinate the development and approval processes of clinical modules across all levels within the undergraduate programme in coordination with the Programme Director.
• Review student clinical placement documents, policies, procedures, and surveys in collaboration with the Clinical Teaching and Learning Committee and SONM faculty with the aim to develop action plans and improve students’ clinical experiences.
• Provide module specific feedback to students about the previous clinical placement at the start of each semester.
• Assess, follow-up, and evaluate students with difficulties, poor clinical performances and/or clinical professional misconduct and liaise with the Level Directors and Clinical Placement Coordinators (CPCs).
• Take necessary actions to improve the clinical learning environments based on students’ feedback provided.
• Coordinate with the Clinical Nursing Coordinator (CNC) to develop a clinical placement database and plan individual student experiences, based on the learning outcomes of the programme.
• Coordinate with the CNC and CPCs to plan clinical placement schedules.
• Conduct orientation sessions for students at the module level before the beginning of the clinical placements.
• Conduct orientation sessions for clinical tutors/mentors during the clinical supervision workshop and as needed before the beginning of the clinical placements.
• Resolve operational matters, including scheduling of clinical placements and adjustments to assessment requirements, to balance students’ workload.
• Conduct clinical rounds at various allocations and submit related reports (soft copy) to the CNC and CPC.
• Support the CPCs in conducting clinical debriefing sessions with students and clinical tutors/mentors.
• Provide support and guidance for clinical tutors/mentors and CPCs in relation to handling student professional misconduct in the clinical settings.
• Counsel students on clinical, academic, and extracurricular matters to foster their progress in the clinical modules.
• Maintain a student clinical evaluation and incidents database in collaboration with the CNC and CPCs and follow-up on related clinical improvement plans.
• Highlight and communicate any issues with students’ clinical documentation to Level Directors/Clinical Module Coordinators.
• Support the Level Directors/Clinical Module Coordinators with reviewing students completed clinical documents.
• Organise and conduct audits for new and existing clinical placement allocations, in collaboration with the CNC and other nursing faculty members.
• Develop end-of-year clinical reports in collaboration with the CNC and submit them to the CTLC.
Requirements
Person Specification:
• Registered Nurse in the Kingdom of Bahrain
• Master’s degree in nursing or other health care specialisation
• Excellent communication, organisation and time-management skills
• A keen interest in teaching and interacting with undergraduate students
• A recognised teaching qualification in health care is desirable
Experience:
• 5 years of clinical experience
• Experience of teaching clinical skills to student nurses in simulation and clinical laboratory environments
• Experience of teaching and mentoring student nurses in clinical practice environments
• Experience using E-learning/VLE systems would be desirable
• Experience of teaching and assessing students in an academic environment is desirable

This job will provide administrative support to the clinical-based aspects of the BSc (Hons) Nursing Programme.
Reports to
This position will report, for line management purposes, to the Academic Operations Nursing Team Lead.
Role Requirements

Understanding of the BSc (Hons) Nursing Undergraduate programme and the clinical experience required to meet the needs of each year of the programme.
An in-depth understanding of RCSI Bahrain and School of Nursing & Midwifery policies, procedures, and regulations related to students’ clinical practice.
The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with diverse healthcare entities, students, school and related departments.
The ability to perform well under pressure and adapt quickly to changing environments based on course, faculty, and student needs in a timely manner.
The competence to apply and develop proficiency in multiple software programs and online systems.
Clinical Placements for Nursing Undergraduate Programme
Collaborate with the School of Nursing and the Clinical Placement Coordinators at RCSI Bahrain affiliated hospitals/health centers in planning and organizing the clinical placement allocations for all four years of the Undergraduate Nursing programme.
Support in creating and maintaining clinical rotation plans for students with the corresponding Clinical Tutors/Clinical Mentors consistent with the nursing course objectives.
Help maintain a positive and professional atmosphere that supports high-quality student learning.
Serve as a point of contact for the clinical staff at the hospitals to raise concerns about students’ engagement and efficiently address the issues as needed and/or required.
Assist Year Directors with the coordination of teaching related to clinical placements by organising teaching sessions, booking rooms, managing facilities and resources as and when required.
Contribute to the execution of clinical examinations in line with the assessment requirements of the nursing programme.
Support in organising the orientation programmes, and the Clinical Teaching & Supervision Workshops.
Coordinate payment requests of Clinical Tutors and Clinical Mentors.
Provide admin support in the organisation of Clinical Learning & Teaching Committee meetings including distribution of agenda, minute taking, scheduling and other activities as required.
Facilitate the development and updating of documents, policies, guidelines, and procedures related to students’ clinical experience.
Compile debriefing reports.
