Nurse Manager Job Description (De-Addiction and Mental Health Hospital)
Overview
The Nurse Manager oversees nursing operations in a de-addiction and mental health treatment facility, ensuring high-quality patient care while managing staff and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate nursing and support staff
- Develop staff schedules ensuring appropriate coverage for all shifts
- Foster a collaborative team environment and resolve interpersonal conflicts
- Implement and maintain performance improvement strategies
Clinical Oversight
- Ensure implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients
- Oversee medication management protocols and medication-assisted treatment programs
- Ensure compliance with therapeutic milieu management and safety standards
- Develop and review nursing care protocols for dual-diagnosis patients
Administrative Duties
- Manage departmental budget and resource allocation
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Develop and update policies and procedures
Professional Development
- Stay current with evidence-based practices in addiction and mental health nursing
- Facilitate continuing education opportunities for nursing staff
Qualifications
Required
- BSN degree with valid NHRA RN license in good standing (MSc/MBA preferred)
- 5+ years’ experience in mental health or addiction treatment settings
- 3+ years in supervisory/management role
- Holder of current BLS/ACLS certification
- Experience with electronic health record systems
Preferred
- Certification in Addictions Nursing (CARN) or psychiatric-mental health nursing
- Experience with medication-assisted treatment programs
- Experience with related accreditations and quality assurance.
