As a Senior Drilling Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, design, and execution of drilling programs, ensuring their safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will conduct detailed engineering analysis, select appropriate drilling equipment and methodologies, and provide technical supervision during drilling operations. This role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, reservoir engineers, and operations personnel, to achieve drilling objectives. Your expertise will be crucial in mitigating risks, optimizing well performance, and implementing innovative drilling solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and plan drilling programs for new wells, sidetracks, and workovers, optimizing wellbore trajectories and casing designs.
  • Select and specify drilling equipment, tools, and materials in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Prepare detailed drilling procedures, including drilling fluid programs, cement programs, and well control plans.
  • Provide technical supervision and support during drilling operations, troubleshooting issues and optimizing performance.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to ensure safe and environmentally sound operations.
  • Analyze drilling data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement efficiency enhancements.
  • Collaborate with geology, reservoir, and production teams to integrate drilling objectives with overall field development plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and manage drilling budgets, seeking cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
  • Mentor and train junior drilling engineers and field personnel.
  • Participate in post-drilling evaluations and prepare comprehensive well completion reports.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering within the oil and gas industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of drilling operations, well construction, well control, and drilling fluids.
  • Proficiency in drilling engineering software and simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HSE best practices.
  • Experience with offshore and/or challenging well environments is highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel to remote sites as required.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
