A System Administrator is an information technology (IT) professional who makes sure an organization’s computer systems are functioning and meet the needs of the organization. Sysadmins support, troubleshoot, and maintain computer servers and networks.

Roles & Responsibilities
  1. Install and configure software and hardware.
  2. Manage on-premises and cloud servers and storage.
  3. Manage and maintain Active Directory.
  4. Manage and maintain Windows & Linux server OS.
  5. Manage Microsoft Office365 Admin account.
  6. Manage AWS accounts.
  7. Set up accounts and workstations.

Minimum Requirements
  1. Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
  2. Experience with servers, storage devices, and patch management.
  3. Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
  4. Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
  5. Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
  6. Excellent communication skills.
Educational Qualifications & Certifications
  1. BSc/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and AWS certified) is a plus.
Experience
  1. Minimum 3 years progressive experience in system administration and technical support.
Required Skills
  1. Good communication skills.
  2. Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing) and preferably Arabic.
  3. Microsoft MCSE certification or similar.
  4. Linux (RHCSA) certification or similar.
  5. AWS certification is a plus.
  6. Availability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.
  7. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Main Tasks:

  1. Operate and maintain the On-Premises and co-located data center and related facilities.
  2. Keep track of all Company Data Center facilities, assets, equipment, installations, access control systems, fire suppression systems, etc.
  3. Implement and execute the necessary Data Center facility development, maintenance, support, and operation.
  4. Continuously monitor Data Center facilities, power and cooling (HVAC), security access control, compute, storage, network and telecommunications equipment and services, system logs and alerts.

  6. Coordinate all faulty hardware replacement, capacity expansion, server installation, decommissioning with internal technical teams, vendors, partners, and external customers.

  8. Ensure all necessary operational arrangements are in place to maintain and recover the Data Center facilities and services in the event of a disaster or major unplanned outage, as per approved Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
  9. Work closely with approved service providers, maintain accurate Data Center configuration and operation documentation, update timely and accurately relevant documentation and diagrams.
  10. 24 hours On-Call to provide urgent support especially on continuous operation that affects the company’s production.
  11. Follow the internal General Data Center Guidelines.

Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

As Data Center Facility Manager, you will be responsible for engineering operations and maintenance across the Amazon availability zone. You will lead a team of engineers responsible for the 100% availability of mechanical and electrical services, including risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management and metrics reporting.
Key job responsibilities
- Oversees the build out of Facility-specific infrastructure in existing locations.
- Responsible for the onsite management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with AWS practices and procedures.
- Has primary responsibility for engineering systems availability
- Conducts financial analysis and contributes to financial decisions.
- Managing and developing teams of engineers, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.
- Negotiates and rolls out contracts and defines and audits SLAs.
- Will conduct Project Management for multiple sites.
- Draws from a deep group or department level understanding to make business decisions.
- Uses business knowledge to set priorities and develop project plans.
- Work with IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency.
- Operate and manage both routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
- Relevant work experience as a people manager in Data Center Facility
- In depth knowledge of critical facility (electrical and mechanical) equipment such as generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS and Transformers, electrical sub distribution systems, fire detection and suppression systems, cable reticulation system
- Experienced in managing partnerships with vendors
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline preferred

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer to join our expanding Data Centers (DC) Cloud regions. Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer is a hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation responder.

As an Engineering Operations Engineer, you will operate and maintain AWS DCs’ world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure following a process-oriented approach. In addition, you will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures.

If you like to apply your electrical and mechanical skills to solve problems while striving for operational excellence, we would like to meet you. Your work will help maintain availability for customers and ensure the upkeep and operation of the technical infrastructure in the DC.

Key job responsibilities

SAFETY

  • Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture.

ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

  • You will be supporting electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.
  • Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, HVAC and fire/life safety equipment within the data center
  • Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
  • Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities

A day in the life

  • Work rotational shifts of 4 days of 12 hours shifts (2 days followed by 2 nights), and 4 days off (including night, weekends and holidays) / Respond to on-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency calls
  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
  • Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
  • Perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Occasionally Move objects/material (weight limits in accordance with regulations)
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Work in noisy environments
  • Work at heights and from ladders

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical engineering, Instrumentation and Control, project management or similar technical focus
