VAM Systems is currently looking for Finance Data Engineering Analyst for our Bahrain operations with the following skillsets & terms and conditions:
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Engineer (B.E.)/ MCA
- Certification in SQL/SAS
Key Objectives
- Support the finance team on data and analytics activities and Dataware House (DWH) based on a profound knowledge of banking, financial reporting, and data engineering.
- Understanding finance and risk reporting systems/workflow with previous experience participating in system implementation is desirable.
- Hands-on experience on MS Excel
- Prior project management/stakeholder management is desired
- Coordinate and Interact with the finance business partner to support daily finance data analysis, hierarchical mappings, and understanding (root cause analysis) of identified data issues.
- Exceptional comprehension of finance, risk, and data warehousing to guarantee accurate and reconciled reporting (e.g., balance-sheet exposure, profit and loss).
- Mastering the Intersection of Finance, Data Analysis and Data Engineering.
- Conduct review of data quality and reconciliations for finance reports and maintenance of reporting logic/programs.
- Support the finance team in ad-hoc requests and organizing data for financial/regulatory reports, data mapping and performing UAT.
- Ensuring the consistency of bank's data architecture, data flows, and business logic in accordance with Data Management guidelines, development standards, and data architecture by working closely with Finance and data Engineering teams to identify issues and develop sustainable data-driven solutions.
- Expertise in writing and documenting complex SQL Query, Procedures, and functions creating algorithms that automate important financial interactions and data controls.
- Experience in handling SAS ETL jobs, data transformation, validation, analysis and performance tuning.
- SAS skillset, with Strong Experience in SAS Management Console, SAS DI, SAS Enterprise Guide, Base SAS, SAS Web Report Studio, SAS Delivery Portal, SAS OLAP Cube Studio, SAS Information Maps, SAS BI, SAS Stored Process, SAS Datasets & Library

The role of a Junior Data Engineer at Canonical
Canonical has provided developers with open source since 2004, helping them build innovations such as public cloud, machine learning, robotics or blockchain. We're on the lookout for a marketing data analyst to join our team and execute on our growth hacking strategy.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology, technology marketing and the use of technology in marketing. You will prefer to work in an environment that has emphasis on ownership of campaigns, collaboration, learning, curiosity and a drive to continually improve oneself / the team / the organisation. You will also love to problem solve, get hands-on, experiment, measure and use automation to make daily life easier.
The Marketing team at Canonical drives commercial outcomes for the company across its portfolio of products and grows the addressable market through digital marketing campaigns, lifecycle management, events, partnerships and community development. If these things are important to you and you're motivated by driving data engineering, delighting customers and filling the sales funnel, we want to talk with you.
This role sits in the Marketing team reporting to the Growth Engineering Manager.
Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.
What your day will look like
- Utilise advanced data analytics to grow Canonical's product adoption and market penetration
- Focus on quantitative and qualitative data analytics to find insights and meaningful business outcomes
- Design and conduct experiments with data, visualisation and insights into Canonical's target audiences
- Collaborate with stakeholder teams (Product Management, Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, RevOps, etc) to improve the data and tool ecosystem
- Put in place and maintain systems to ensure teams across the company have self-service access to data dashboards
What we are looking for in you?
- Background in data science, mathematics, actuarial science, or engineering
- Knowledge in advanced statistics, data sciences, coding/scripting languages (Python, JS, etc), and databases (SQL, etc)
- Strength in data analytics and visualisation (Looker Studio, Tableau, Apache Superset, etc)
- Ability to translate business questions to key research objectives
- Ability to identify the best methodology to execute research, synthesise and analyse findings
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Willingness to examine the status quo and resilient in the face of challenges

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and processing of large datasets.
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes using various data integration tools.
- Implement and manage data warehousing solutions and data lakes.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data platforms.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Build and maintain data models that support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
- Automate data processes and monitor pipeline performance for efficiency and reliability.
- Write efficient and performant SQL queries and scripts.
- Stay current with emerging big data technologies and best practices in data engineering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
- Contribute to the development of data governance policies and procedures.
- Mentor junior data engineers and share knowledge within the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and managing data pipelines.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java.
- Extensive experience with big data technologies like Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (S3, EMR, Redshift, Glue), Azure (Data Factory, Databricks), or GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow).
- Expertise in SQL and experience with various database technologies (relational and NoSQL).
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with data governance and data cataloging tools is beneficial.
