Job Description: We are seeking a proactive " Interior Design Draftsman " to join our dynamic team.
An Interior Design Detailing Draftsman plays a vital role in the interior design process by creating highly detailed technical drawings and plans that communicate design specifications to construction and fabrication teams. This role requires a strong understanding of architectural and interior design principles, as well as proficiency in drafting software and tools. The Interior Design Detailing Draftsman works closely with interior designers and architects to ensure that design concepts are executed accurately and in compliance with building codes and regulations.
Responsibilities- TECHNICAL DRAWING AND DETAILING: Create detailed interior design drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details, using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. Develop drawings that accurately represent the design intent, ensuring proper dimensions, scale, and proportion.
- MATERIALS AND FINISHES: Specify and detail materials, finishes, and construction techniques, including wall treatments, flooring, ceiling designs, and millwork. Ensure that all material specifications meet quality standards and adhere to project requirements.
- CODE COMPLIANCE: Stay current with building codes and regulations to ensure that the design complies with safety and accessibility standards. Incorporate necessary code-compliant elements into the design drawings.
- COLLABORATION: Work closely with interior designers, architects, and other project team members to translate design concepts into technical drawings. Collaborate with contractors, fabricators, and suppliers to clarify design details and resolve construction-related issues.
- PROJECT DOCUMENTATION: Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation, including design revisions, specifications, and correspondence with team members and clients. Create and manage drawing sets for construction and permit submission.
- 3D MODELING: Assist in the creation of 3D models to help visualize design concepts and identify potential issues or improvements.
- QUALITY ASSURANCE: Review and check drawings for accuracy and completeness, ensuring that they align with the design intent and project goals.
- COST EFFICIENCY: Work to optimize designs to be cost-effective without compromising quality and accuracy. Research and recommend cost-effective materials and construction methods.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
- Strong technical drafting skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with 3D modeling software is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools (e.g., SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
- 2+ years of experience in related field.
