The Role

We're seeking an Engineering Manager who's a true practitioner of continuous improvement and agile principles—not just someone who facilitates standups. You'll lead a team of approximately 10 engineers, inheriting an existing team and elevating their performance through better processes, clearer goals, and proactive obstacle removal.

This isn't a purely administrative role. You'll be deeply involved in improving our SDLC, implementing metrics-driven improvements, managing stakeholders across the organization, and growing your team members' careers. You should understand engineering at a technical level and be respected by engineers as someone who's been in the trenches building mission-critical systems.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and grow a team of ~10 engineers across backend, frontend, mobile, and DevOps
  • Implement and continuously improve agile/lean processes tailored to our startup context
  • Use engineering metrics (cycle time, deployment frequency, lead time) to identify and eliminate bottlenecks
  • Proactively remove blockers and create an environment where engineers can do their best work
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communications across product, business, and leadership
  • Improve SDLC processes, development workflows, and engineering standards
  • Conduct 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and career development conversations
  • Lead incident response and blameless post-mortems to drive learning and improvement

1. Position Purpose

The Corporate Engineering Manager provides strategic and hands-on leadership across technical aspects of tendering and project delivery within the Construction Platform. This role ensures high-quality technical input and design management across both pre-contract (tendering) and project execution phases. It integrates engineering disciplines into planning, estimating, and operations, ensuring constructability, cost-efficiency, innovation, and compliance with contractual and statutory requirements.

The Corporate Engineering Manager leads a multi-disciplinary team responsible for compliant and coordinated designs under Design & Construct delivery models.

2. Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead technical support across all tenders and live projects, from early methodology development through to construction execution and completion.
  • Drive innovation through modern construction techniques, DfMA, and digital design integration.
  • Support the Estimating Manager with technical inputs, construction methodology, site logistics, and risk mitigation strategies during tendering.
  • Develop and oversee construction methodology documents, including staging, sequencing, and temporary works concepts.

Design Management (D&C Tenders and Projects)

  • Lead the management of external designers during pre-contract and project delivery phases.

Our client, a leading global manufacturer of precision industrial components, is seeking an experienced Production Engineering Manager to lead their remote engineering operations. This is a fully remote position, offering a unique opportunity to drive manufacturing excellence from anywhere. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production engineering, including process optimization, quality control, equipment maintenance, and new product introduction into manufacturing. Your role will be critical in enhancing production efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the highest standards of product quality. You will lead a team of skilled production engineers, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and implement cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing processes, lean methodologies, and a proven ability to manage complex production environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of production engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize manufacturing processes, improve throughput, and reduce cycle times.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and validation of new production equipment and manufacturing systems.
  • Establish and enforce robust quality control procedures to ensure product conformity and minimize defects.
  • Manage the maintenance and repair of production machinery to ensure operational uptime and longevity.
  • Lead new product introduction (NPI) projects into manufacturing, ensuring smooth and efficient transitions.
  • Implement and champion lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Develop and manage the production engineering budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, design, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for production personnel on new processes and equipment.
  • Stay abreast of emerging manufacturing technologies and best practices, and recommend their adoption where appropriate.
  • Manage external vendors and service providers related to production equipment and processes.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the production engineering function.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in production engineering, manufacturing operations, or a related management role.
  • Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation, and industrial equipment.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success in process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with new product introduction (NPI) and transfer to manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and manufacturing simulation tools is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and drive cross-functional collaboration in a remote setting.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience with ERP systems and production planning tools.
