This full-time, on-site position is based at their advanced facility in Hamad Town, Northern, BH , and is critical for ensuring the inherent safety of chemical processes and protecting personnel, assets, and the environment. As a Process Safety Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs. You will conduct detailed risk assessments, lead safety studies, and ensure compliance with stringent international and local safety regulations. Your expertise will directly contribute to preventing incidents, optimizing safety performance, and fostering a strong safety culture within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate various process hazard analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA, and What-If studies for new and existing processes.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, local industry standards).
- Conduct quantitative risk assessments (QRAs) and consequence modeling to evaluate potential hazards and their impacts.
- Perform incident investigations, root cause analyses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions for process-related incidents.
- Develop and implement safety instrumented systems (SIS) and safety integrity levels (SIL) assessments.
- Review process designs, modifications, and new projects to ensure inherent safety and compliance with safety standards.
- Develop and deliver process safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Manage management of change (MOC) processes related to process safety, ensuring thorough review and approval of proposed changes.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify non-compliance and areas for improvement.
- Ensure the integrity of process equipment through mechanical integrity programs.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and environmental departments to integrate safety into all aspects of plant operations.
- Prepare comprehensive safety reports, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
- Stay current with industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes in process safety.
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CFSE) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of dedicated experience in process safety engineering within the chemical, oil & gas, or petrochemical industry.
- Extensive hands-on experience with process hazard analysis (PHA) techniques and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) elements and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in process simulation and risk modeling software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex safety concepts.
- Ability to lead and facilitate cross-functional safety teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to safety analysis.
