Job Description
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join their dedicated fleet maintenance team. This hands-on role involves the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of a diverse range of heavy-duty trucks, buses, and specialized vehicles to ensure optimal operational performance and safety. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, addressing mechanical and electrical issues, and conducting preventative care to minimize downtime. This is an on-site position requiring a strong commitment to quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.

- Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostic tests on heavy vehicles using specialized equipment.
- Repair and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems, including wiring harnesses, sensors, and control modules.
- Conduct preventative maintenance services, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
- Service and repair air conditioning and heating systems in vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair suspension, steering, and exhaust systems.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and schematics.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations regarding waste disposal and fluid handling.
- Assist in managing inventory of parts and supplies.
- Perform road tests to verify the effectiveness of repairs.
- Provide training and guidance to apprentice mechanics as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Vocational/technical school training in diesel mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic, preferably with experience in fleet maintenance.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines (e.g., Cummins, Detroit Diesel, PACCAR).
- Strong knowledge of heavy truck drivetrains, suspension, and braking systems.
- Experience with electronic diagnostic tools and software specific to heavy vehicles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record; CDL class A or B is a strong plus.
- Possession of ASE certifications in Medium/Heavy Duty Truck (T1-T8) is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy parts and equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
