Job Purpose:-

  • SCADA system Engineer for assigned projects reporting to the Project Manager/Department Manager
  • Preparation and control of project software application documentation (revision, quality checks, transmittals, etc.)
  • Perform RTU logic development based on control Narrative / Philosophy
  • Perform software application engineering design to meet customer requirements.
  • Assist in the integration & testing of systems
  • Perform commissioning at site

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Liaison with other project team members for the performance of the work
  • Assist the LD engineer(s) for the basic & detailed engineering, software configuration & Testing (pre-FAT/FAT/IFAT)
  • Preparation and control of software application engineering documentation (revisions, quality checks & transmittals) adhering to project standards, schedule and quality plan.
  • Tracking of project scope of work deviations / BOM variations.
  • Effective use of engineering team man hours.

Qualification and Experience

  • B.E. or B.Tech. in Instrumentation / Control Systems Engineering
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience preferably in Oil & Gas field

Competencies

  • SCADA domain expertise for Oil/Gas, Water Transmission, Pipeline & Utilities
  • Telemetry & PLC Systems programming & troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge on TCP/IP, Serial, Modbus, DNP3, HART, OPC2.0, IEC61850, Profibus, Profinet, Foundation Field bus protocol etc.
  • Working knowledge on various transmitters, control valves, temp/pressure/flow measuring devices, positioner, UV/Heat/Gas/Flame sensors, isolators, barriers, multiplexers, etc.
  • Working knowledge on Fiber Optic/Wireless/GSM /GPRS/UHF/CDMA communication preferred.

Skills

  • PLC programming - (IEC
  • Networking – Configuration / Administration.
  • Microsoft OS – System Administration.
  • Microsoft Office package

Our client is a global leader in industrial automation and is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Control Systems Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and implementing advanced control systems for a wide range of industrial applications, with a focus on remote accessibility and operation.

You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of control systems, from initial concept and requirement gathering through to implementation, testing, and ongoing support. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, electrical engineering principles, software development, and network communications, all applied within the context of remote operational management. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges, and the ability to work autonomously in a distributed team environment. Key responsibilities include:
  • Designing, developing, and implementing PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems for industrial processes with an emphasis on remote monitoring and control.
  • Developing robust software for embedded systems and real-time control applications.
  • Configuring and troubleshooting industrial networks, including Ethernet/IP, Profibus, and Modbus.
  • Creating and maintaining detailed system documentation, including P&IDs, electrical schematics, and software logic.
  • Developing and implementing safety systems and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC 61508).
  • Designing and integrating advanced sensor and actuator systems for optimal process performance.
  • Developing user-friendly HMI interfaces for remote operation and data visualization.
  • Conducting system testing, commissioning, and validation, often remotely when feasible.
  • Providing remote technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients and field technicians.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, in a virtual setting.
  • Researching and evaluating new technologies to enhance the capabilities and efficiency of remote control systems.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices for remote work.
  • Ensuring cybersecurity measures are implemented and maintained for all remote access points.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial automation, control systems engineering, or a closely related field is essential. Proven experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell) and SCADA system development is mandatory. Strong knowledge of networking protocols, cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems, and experience with remote access technologies are critical. Experience with robotics and motion control systems is a plus. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills are necessary for success in this remote role.
