The role of a Billing System Engineering Manager, Commercial Systems at Canonical

This engineering management role is an opportunity for a technologist with a passion for Linux and Ubuntu to build a career with Canonical and drive the success of the business. The Commercial Systems unit has several areas of responsibility spread across six engineering teams, closely collaborating with other engineering and business teams at Canonical. Services designed, developed, and operated by the Commercial Systems unit are at the heart of Canonical business and Salesforce plays an integral role in it.

The Billing team's mission is to develop an internal billing system, delivering a consistent billing experience to all Canonical customers across all products and services, and across all service delivery methods. This challenging assignment requires close cooperation with business departments to ensure our customers are billed accurately and reliably, while achieving the highest engineering standards expected of any engineering team at Canonical.

We are looking for an engineering manager with prior engineering experience in a high-level programming language, who strives for the highest engineering quality, seeks improvements, continuously develops their skills, and applies them at work. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a fairly unique solution and build expertise in billing and finance.

Location : This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region.

What we are looking for in you

  • Experience as a software developer in a high-level language - preferably Go or Python

  • Ability to collaborate remotely with a diverse set of team members and stakeholders, remain highly motivated, productive, and organized in a fully remote environment
  • Ability to travel to international destinations for one week at a time, approximately 2-4 times per year. Locations prior to the global pandemic included New York, Seattle, London, Cape Town, Budapest, Berlin, Montreal, and Brussels

  3. Ensure scrapped parts are disposed of in a timely manner, Fixed Asset Section is informed, and AMOS system is updated appropriately.
3rd-PARTY CONSIGNMENT AND EXCHANGE MANAGEMENT
  1. Manage the return of consigned parts and core units with 3rd-party providers within the contractual terms.
  2. Ensure recertification charges are reviewed adequately and processed within the timeframe set out in the specific agreements.
WARRANTY AND CLAIM ADMINISTRATION
  1. Manage warranty claims for defective parts, collaborating with suppliers and manufacturers to recover costs within the allowable warranty period.
  2. Manage the recovery of costs related to incidents and 3rd party damages on aircraft and components through Insurance Claim.
  3. Maintain detailed records of claims and follow up on outstanding issues to ensure timely resolution.
REPORTING & COMPLIANCE
  1. Provide regular reports on pool contract performance, repair cycle metrics, and warranty & insurance claims to the Senior Manager Technical Materials.
  2. Ensure all asset management activities adhere to regulatory and company standards.
EDUCATION

Degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in asset management, component repair, or warranty and claim administration in the aviation industry.
