Your role will include the ability to grow, lead a team of dedicated engineers aiming at adapting our products to automotive and industrial specific requirements. You will represent Canonical and Ubuntu in the industrial and automotive community and standards consortia. You and your team will make sure our Linux distribution and products, as well as ways of working, are supporting standards addressing processes, cyber-security and safety concerns such as described by (but not limited to) IEC 61508, ISO9001 and Automotive specific ISO 21434 UNECE R155 & R156, ISO26262 ASIL (from B to D) or ASPICE. At the same time, we aim at enhancing the delivery quality, security and developer experience where you will be expected to lead, challenge, and positively influence the culture and work with your team on strategy and execution. You will report directly to our Vice President of Engineering Excellence and work closely with the Automotive Product Manager to define and execute a vision and roadmap for automotive at Canonical.

What you'll do

  • Work with Product Management to refine the vision and strategy for automotive at Canonical
  • Define and execute an engineering roadmap for the automotive team at Canonical
  • Represent Ubuntu and Canonical in the automotive community, in front of customers, partners and consortia
  • Lead our Linux distribution and open source software strategy in Automotive
  • Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers and coordinate, guide and oversee their work
  • Develop skills through coaching, feedback and hands-on technical leadership
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices
  • Help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values
  • Work from home with international travel twice a year, up to two weeks at a time, for company events

Who you are

  • You have a strong software engineering, Linux, and open source background
  • You have in-depth knowledge in Linux packages and embedded development
  • You have knowledge of automotive and industry standards such as ISO21434, ISO26262, SOTIF, IEC 61508, and ideally have led product development initiatives that fulfilled compliance with one or more of the mentioned standards
  • You have experience in C/C++ and Python programming
  • You have practical experience in automotive, including functional safety, embedded systems, cloud and related software trends
  • You have experience leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developers
  • You have a track record of timely delivery and high quality software
  • You love developing and growing people and have a track record of doing it
  • You have experience working in an agile development environment

The role entails

  • Lead the product development lifecycle, reviewing the priorities and goals for your product
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as engineering, design, marketing, and sales
  • Address common challenges across projects, align on priorities, enable informed decisions, and keep business execution on track
  • Conduct market research, analyse industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities
  • Communicate your product vision, status updates, and key decisions to ensure alignment and manage expectations
  • Conduct usability testing, analyse user feedback, and iterate on the product to improve the user experience
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and support teams to develop go-to-market strategies, create product documentation, and provide training
  • Contribute to the success of our sales team in winning new opportunities, reviewing customer feedback and participating in customer meetings
  • Oversee the work of a product line, ensuring consistency in strategy and execution across different teams
  • Facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts within different teams and across other departments

  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 4 times a year for company events up to two weeks long

Additional Skills That We Value

  • Familiarity with a particular verticals (e.g. Telco, Finance, Industrial, Automotive)
  • Familiarity with the technology ecosystem including Silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs, cloud service providers and channel
  • Familiarity with cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker containers & Snaps
  • Familiarity with embedded and connected device technology and ecosystems
  • Familiarity with networking technologies - ethernet, IPv4 and IPv6, routing, firewalling, overlays such as OVN/OVS, VPNs, SR-IOV, infiniband
  • Familiarity with telco networking - RAN, Core, CPE
  • Experience in leading distributed teams across different time zones
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and innovation in team settings

As a Technical Project Manager II in Commercial and Investment Bank for Trade and working Capital business, you will play a pivotal role in leading complex technology projects and programs that drive business goals and enhance the firm's technological capabilities. You will leverage your broad knowledge of technical principles and practices to develop innovative solutions, while effectively managing resources, budgets, and cross-functional teams. Your analytical reasoning and adaptability skills will enable you to navigate through ambiguity and embrace change. Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate agile transformation initiatives across multiple teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Drive the adoption and scaling of agile practices, including SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) or other relevant frameworks.
  • Organize and facilitate Quarterly Planning sessions, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment among teams.
  • Develop and maintain agile roadmaps, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address impediments to agile adoption and performance.
  • Utilize JIRA and Confluence to manage and track agile projects, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is available to all stakeholders.
  • Analyze data and metrics using Excel to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation and innovation within teams.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in agility roles, with a focus on agile at scale and quarterly Planning.
  • Strong hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Excel.
  • Proven track record of working in scaling agile practices across organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Relevant agile certifications (e.g., SAFe Agilist, Certified ScrumMaster) are a definite plus
