Our client, a pioneering company in advanced materials and thermal management solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Lead Thermal Systems Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an expert in heat transfer and thermal design to lead groundbreaking projects focused on developing next-generation cooling systems for high-performance electronics, aerospace applications, and renewable energy technologies. You will guide a globally distributed team of engineers, drive conceptual design, conduct advanced analysis, and ensure the successful development and validation of cutting-edge thermal solutions. - Lead the design, analysis, and development of advanced thermal management systems.
- Oversee the conceptualization and feasibility studies for novel cooling technologies.
- Conduct detailed thermal analysis using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
- Develop thermal models, perform simulations, and interpret results to optimize system performance.
- Define system requirements, specifications, and test plans for thermal components and assemblies.
- Manage and mentor a remote team of thermal engineers, providing technical guidance and project leadership.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including mechanical designers, electrical engineers, and materials scientists.
- Oversee the selection and sourcing of appropriate materials and components for thermal systems.
- Develop and execute comprehensive test procedures to validate thermal performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot thermal issues and provide innovative solutions to design challenges.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in heat transfer technology, materials science, and thermal modeling techniques.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, design documentation, and project proposals.
- Contribute to the intellectual property strategy through invention disclosures and patent applications.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to thermal systems.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes and simulation methodologies.
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in Heat Transfer/Thermodynamics.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in thermal systems design and analysis, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in advanced heat transfer principles (conduction, convection, radiation).
- Proficiency with CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+) and thermal FEA tools.
- Strong understanding of phase change phenomena, heat pipes, and advanced cooling techniques.
- Proven experience in leading remote engineering teams and managing complex projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with experimental thermal testing and measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with materials science relevant to thermal management applications.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver results in a remote environment.
- Experience with electronics cooling or aerospace thermal systems is highly desirable.
