Our client, a leader in the mining and heavy civil construction sector, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their global team in a fully remote capacity. This is a critical role focused on the planning, design, and execution of complex underground mining and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in soil mechanics, rock mechanics, foundation design, and the stability analysis of tunnels, shafts, and excavations. You will lead challenging geotechnical investigations, interpret complex geological data, and develop robust design solutions that ensure safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

- Lead the geotechnical aspects of large-scale underground mining and civil projects from concept to completion.
- Perform advanced geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, seismic analysis, and ground improvement techniques.
- Develop detailed geotechnical design reports, specifications, and drawings for tunnels, shafts, foundations, and other underground structures.
- Oversee and interpret data from geotechnical investigations, including drilling, in-situ testing, and laboratory testing.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
- Collaborate with geologists, structural engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated project solutions.
- Develop and implement risk assessment and mitigation strategies for geotechnical hazards.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in geotechnical engineering and mining technologies.
- Contribute to the development of company standards and best practices in geotechnical engineering.
- Prepare and present technical findings to clients, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with a significant focus on underground construction (mining or civil).
- Proven expertise in numerical modeling software (e.g., FLAC, PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
- Strong understanding of geological principles and their impact on engineering design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence diverse teams.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification is required.
- Experience with remote project collaboration tools and methodologies.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and management of geotechnical consultants.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead and manage teams in a remote and collaborative environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is highly desirable.
