Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Automotive Design Engineer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge vehicle components and systems. This hybrid role offers a flexible working arrangement, combining on-site collaboration with remote design work. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and prototyping innovative automotive solutions that meet performance, aesthetic, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio of automotive design projects, proficiency in CAD/CAE software, and a deep understanding of materials and manufacturing processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including styling, engineering, and manufacturing, to bring designs from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of automotive components and systems, from initial concept through to production.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using industry-leading software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX).
  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other simulations to validate design performance, durability, and safety.
  • Collaborate with styling and concept teams to translate design language into manufacturable parts.
  • Specify materials and manufacturing processes, ensuring designs are cost-effective and feasible.
  • Develop and manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) for assigned components.
  • Conduct design reviews and present design proposals to internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Troubleshoot design issues and implement design changes to resolve problems encountered during testing or manufacturing.
  • Stay current with emerging automotive technologies, trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for efficient production.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive design engineering.
  • Proven experience in the design of specific automotive systems (e.g., powertrain, chassis, body, interior).
  • Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, or NX).
  • Strong understanding of CAE tools for simulation and analysis (e.g., ANSYS, ABAQUS).
  • Knowledge of automotive materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality and validation processes (e.g., APQP, PPAP).
  • Must be able to work effectively in both remote and on-site collaborative settings.
