Job Description

We are seeking a responsible Safety Officer to ensure compliance with health and safety (HSE) guidelines. Your primary role will be advising on measures to minimize hazards and maintain a safe working environment.

**Responsibilities**
- Support the development of HSE policies and programs.
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of machinery etc.)
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
- Initiate and organize HSE training of employees and executives.
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
- Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
- Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management

**Requirements and skills**
- Proven experience as a **safety officer (4+ years of experience)**:

- In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Diligent with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
- BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred.
- Certificate in health and safety.

- IOSHA.
- Other certifications related to HSE.

The Opportunity:
We are looking for an Aviation Safety Officer to manage and enhance the company's Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with ICAO, local civil aviation authorities, and internal safety policies. This Full-time position requires strong knowledge of aviation safety principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to conduct thorough investigations. You will play a vital role in promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conducting safety investigations into incidents, accidents, and hazards, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Performing safety audits and inspections across various operational departments (e.g., flight operations, maintenance, ground handling).
  • Monitoring safety performance indicators (SPIs) and preparing regular safety reports for management.
  • Developing and delivering safety training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture through communication campaigns, workshops, and awareness initiatives.
  • Managing the hazard identification and risk assessment processes.
  • Liaising with civil aviation authorities and other external bodies on safety-related matters.
  • Reviewing and updating safety policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Maintaining accurate records of safety data, incidents, and corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Safety, Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in aviation safety, preferably within an airline or MRO environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annex 19, SMS principles, and local civil aviation regulations.
  • Experience with safety investigation methodologies and root cause analysis tools.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Lead Auditor SMS, IATA Safety Management) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and report writing abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
