Role overview
To function as a Commis Chef for the Calo Kitchen, to work along the Senior Chefs with tasks related to meal preparation, maintenance, logistics, safety and sanitation. Success in this role will be determined by your ability to support the kitchen's efficiency and safety without compromising the quality of the meals produced for our customers.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitors kitchen equipment and reports issues to superiors
- Continually develops culinary knowledge to produce high-quality meals
- Measures, mixes, and prepares meal ingredients, sauces, and seasonings
- Assesses inventory and requests resupply when necessary
- Disposes spoiled items and adheres to sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers
- Produce high-quality plates both design and taste-wise
Ideal Candidate
- Must have 1 - 2 years of experience as a commis chef or similar role within the hospitality and catering industry
- Must be currently present in Bahrain
- Must be a proficient communicator in English
- Good understanding of food, health, and safety regulations
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing facility experience is a plus

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Assist in all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP).
- Receive, store, and manage inventory of food supplies.
- Minimize food waste through proper storage and preparation techniques.
- Learn and master various cooking methods and culinary techniques.
- Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house teams.
- Follow instructions from senior chefs and contribute positively to the team atmosphere.
- Assist with menu planning and development as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Passion for cooking and a strong interest in the culinary arts.
- Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and efficiently.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is an advantage, but not essential.
- Culinary certification or formal training is a plus.
- Valid food handler's permit or willingness to obtain one.
This role is based at our catering facility in **Zallaq, Southern**, and requires you to be physically present to perform the duties. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional culinary experiences. This is a hands-on role with excellent prospects for career advancement within the catering industry.
