- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Polymer)
- At least 5 years in handling product development and research and development, quality assurance in the plastic/ polymer and aluminium industry an added advantage
- Experienced in product development, product reengineering, and innovation
- Technically sound, creative, innovative, methodical, efficient, and accurate
- Experienced in setting up plant, project analysis and implementation
- With composite knowledge that can come handy when preparing feasibility data.
- With sound knowledge on international requirements and standards in the field of FMCG products
**Job Description / Responsibilities**
- To be the driving force in the development of new products, ranges, adding to existing ranges by extending the number of SKUs, and instrumental in automation or labor saving techniques.
- To ensure proper market information is received from the local sales and export department so that we can ensure any new product/ range developed is competitive from the start.
- To ensure to liaise with all departments to ensure feasibilities are positive and all preparations either on the approval in the factory or procurement wise of packaging are arranged in time. All POs to be raised after strong negotiation with best terms included.
- Ensure equipment on commissioning performs against expectations. If not, need to correct or get compensation on performance levels.
- To conceptualize/ envision new designs/ materials and changes to current product standards to meet changing market needs.
- To design major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
- To work with a cross functional team to develop new products and/or improve existing/ current products.
- To verify machine performance against machine producer’s standards and product performance through analysis and testing, identify product non-conformances, design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and implements revisions and/or improvements.
- To bring down the cost of production through the replacement of existing technology where necessary and prove more efficient, faster, and cost effective, scrap saving (where generated). Moulds should also be configured for maximum number of cycles/ strokes per minute for excellent product performance in terms of mechanical properties and minimum wastage and maximum strength.

Role Overview
To function as a New Product Development (NPD) Sous Chef for Calo and contribute to long-term food product development that aligns with the organizational goals and objectives. e.g. new product development and the expansion of existing product lines. You’ll be working closely with the R&D team to formulate and test new recipes and to improve existing recipes.
Main Responsibilities
- Managing new product development projects by researching consumer markets, and developing new product concepts and prototypes
- Brainstorming ideas for new products or existing product modifications/add-ons
- Analyzing and evaluating trial results to make the necessary adjustments to ingredients, formulations, processes, and equipment prior to full-scale production
- Actively Communicate with relevant stake holders for product launches and sourcing
- To make and manage samples creation when requested
- To create each product with full insight of Shelf life, allergens, ingredients cost and process
- Ensures that the stations are kept in a clean and orderly fashion
- Ensures that all equipment within the R&D space is correctly handled and maintained
- Establishes and maintains effective employee relations
- Complies with Calo Health, Safety & Hygiene policy
- Performs related duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a CDP or sous chef
- Must be able to able to initiate, plan and implement new product development projects
- Following recipes and formulations to create and evaluate product samples
- Experience with multiple cuisines or fusion cuisines is a major plus
- Able to communicate well in English
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel)
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures
- Create and maintain an efficient, hygienic, and positive working environment
- Display good work ethic, resourcefulness, and organization
- Must be able to work under pressure and manage time accordingly
- Ensure quality control and efficient workflow
- Familiarity with the industry’s best practices
- Strong time-management skills, able to finish tasks in a timely manner, and stick to deadlines
