Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and optimize chemical and mechanical processes across the site to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and local authorities to align engineering activities with project timelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, update, and maintain process documentation including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, material balances, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor plant performance metrics and conduct technical evaluations to identify inefficiencies, process bottlenecks, or compliance risks.
  • Conduct routine site inspections and audits of process equipment and operational practices to verify adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Support incident investigations and contribute to root cause analysis related to process upsets or operational failures.
  • Deliver technical briefings and training sessions to site personnel on process safety, system optimization, and troubleshooting protocols.
  • Generate reports on key performance indicators, production trends, and recommended improvements to support continuous process enhancement.

You will be responsible for process safety management, including HAZOP studies and risk assessments, to ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Troubleshooting process deviations and equipment malfunctions, and implementing corrective actions are crucial aspects of this role. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, R&D, and maintenance, to support plant objectives. Developing and updating process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and batch records, is also a key responsibility. You will provide technical support and guidance to plant operators and junior engineers. The role requires active participation in capital project execution, from conceptual design to commissioning and startup.

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field; a Master's degree is a plus. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the chemical industry, with a strong focus on process design, scale-up, and optimization, is required. Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) is essential. Strong knowledge of chemical processes, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mass transfer is mandatory. Experience with process safety management (PSM) principles and conducting hazard analyses is highly desirable. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions, are critical. Strong project management skills and experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously are necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely, are required. Proficiency in relevant software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, and advanced Excel is beneficial.
