Key Accountabilities
The Superintendent – Mechanical will work with the Subcontractors supervision, directing activities to project priorities, ensuring that required support is available, and monitoring labour and equipment levels for efficiency.
General
- Works to a 90-day look ahead schedule and provides leadership and guidance to site-based construction supervision (multi-discipline) and construction contractors
- Assist subcontractor in finding best method to execute the works.
- Monitor daily construction details and daily progress in the area (PPC).
- Understands Petrofac Scope of Work, and the detail scopes for each subcontractor, together with an appreciation of the contract type, e.g. reimbursable, unit rates etc. On reimbursable contracts the Construction Superintendent is responsible to verify that all subcontractor personnel and equipment are being used efficiently and sign off on daily timesheets verifying this. Construction Superintendent must be contractually aware, identifying changes in project scope and formally notifying the Subcontracts Manager before implementation.
- Supports Construction Manager / Engineer in finalizing technical decisions.
- Takes ownership of safety; reviews Subcontractor HSSE plans and instigating required changes. Oversee/conduct toolbox talk before commencement of work, briefing about the risks involved and the mitigation measures to be taken. Inspect the jobsite daily to confirm that housekeeping standards are met and takes immediate action if standards are not being met. Encourage the subcontractor and subordinates to report all near misses, unsafe acts etc.
Discipline Specific Duties – Mechanical & Piping
- Definitive knowledge in equipment installation & pre-commissioning; philosophy of Gas Turbines, Centrifugal pumps, reciprocating pumps, Centrifugal Compressors, Reciprocating Compressors, Steam Turbines, and their auxiliaries (lube oil system, fuel gas system, DGS seal gas system, steam system etc.).
- Management of preservation on all types of rotating machinery; compressors, turbines, pumps, and motors, carried out as per project specification reviewing preservation check sheets and periodic inspections. Plan preventative maintenance work and feed into the project duration.
- Having a strong knowledge of mechanical seals and mechanical seal systems.
- Provide day to day mechanical rotating equipment support and advice to supervisor’. Provide specialist support with regards to inspection, and meeting with client or subcontractor
- Coordinate process piping activities within assigned scope at work site
- Able to understand a material packing list and identify the material required for the installation and cross reference with the PO. Planning activity, prepare material requisitions & ensure their withdrawal.
- Preparation of work, monitoring of punch lists and red lining of erection mechanical GA drawings P&IDs. After completion of works ensuring feedback & close work
- The Ability to understand and implement mechanical drawings (section DWG; construction DWG; P&ID; Levelling and alignment specification, Soft-foot specification, flushing/blowing procedure; piping specification; spring supports hot-alignment methods)
- Ensure implementation of Petrofac’s Flange management procedure. Review pipe pressure test procedure and ensure implementation of Go/NoGo and safety checklist prior to pressure testing.
- Utility & Process Systems: Instrument Air, Fire Water, Nitrogen Generator packages, Sea Water, Gas and steam Turbines, Diesel Fuel, Heating & Cooling Medium, Flash Gas, Fuel Gas, Flare Gas, Booster Gas & LP/IP/HP Gas Compression, Crude Oil Treatment & Separation, Water Injection, Methanol Systems, TEG dehydration/regeneration, Chemical Injection, Cranes, and related systems. Review P&IDs with process and ensure everything is lined Up before starting the equipment.
- Risk Control of mechanical Hazards
- Devise pre-start-up checklist
- Planning of Oil flushing / water flushing ETC. activities on rotating equipment.
- Package lines leak test and dewatering. Gas lift and gas injection lines leak test within the package boundaries
- Being part of a multi-disciplined maintenance support team, reviewing existing maintenance procedures and determining / putting in place future recommendations.
- 15+ Mechanical and Piping site experience in direct hire construction with an international oil & gas EPC company and with subcontractors
- 15+ HVAC site experience in direct hire construction with an international oil & gas EPC company and with subcontractors
- Experience working in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS/FSU), Middle East, and/or North Africa
- Prior experience working with a diverse international workforce
- Good communications skills
- Have a thorough working knowledge of International Codes and Standards, specifically ASME and API Codes/practices, and specifications.
- Has knowledge and experience to Mechanical / Piping / HVAC issues onsite and provide guidance to subcontractors.
- Computer proficiency, communication & interpersonal skills, fluent in written & spoken English, software skills to include the use of word, e-mail, spread sheets and presentation.
- Positive “can do” attitude & strong work ethic, conceptual thinking, problem solving & ability to work under pressure. Optimise the installation of equipment.
- Trained in lifting and scaffolding supervision (preferred).

Job Summary
AECOM is seeking Engineer for civil infrastructure projects to be based on site in Bahrain. The ARE will work under the Resident Engineer and will lead the site team and is responsible for managing the services' scope to ensure that the site activities are executed by following the construction documents and specifications and in compliance with the project requirements.
Job Duties
- Reporting to the Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) and/ or Resident Engineer (RE)/ Senior Project Manager, the Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) will assist and support the RE or SRE with a range of site activities and tasks to ensure that the site activities are executed and implemented by following the construction documents and specifications.
- Be familiar with the project’s contract documents, detailed drawings, specifications, and health and safety measures together with any associated updates.
- Have sound knowledge and experience in relevant Ministry of Works and Authority construction standards.
- Ensure the contractor/s compliance with the standards and specifications of the contract documents.
- Undertake all site supervision and inspections when required or instructed by the Resident Engineer (RE) or the Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE).
- Liaise and daily follow up with the contractor. This is to ensure the contractor is managing its resources, health and safety, and equipment needs on the site.
- Prepare daily report to the RE or the ARE. This includes works orders, materials delivery, maintaining records of the contractor manpower and equipment daily resources, and daily inspections programme.
- Follow up and implement any site instructions made by the RE and ARE.
- Apply and implement all quality controls and quality procedures of the site.
- Prepare any site measurements and surveying checks needed by the RE or ARE for pipes alignments and levels.
- Co-ordinate and co-operate with Ministry of Works or similar Authority staff during their site inspections in or without the presence of the RE or ARE as necessary.
- Monitor contractor QA/QC activities and maintain relevant records.
- Assist the ARE and RE in the preparation of any correspondences in compliance with the contract documents.
- Where site problems are found, work with the RE or ARE to resolve them promptly.
- Monitor the start-up, commissioning and handover of the site works.
- Maintain records of materials tests performed and executed works.
- Audit inspections for conformity to contract documents and contractor submitted plans.
- Reviews Inspectors’ and Sub-consultants’ Daily Work Reports.
- Assumes people management responsibilities such as daily timekeeping, performance management, annual performance review and the development and mentoring of staff.
- Should know FIDIC based contracts or equivalent.
- Having relevant experience in supervising large scale infrastructure projects including roads, sewerage system, storm water drainage, pump stations, electrical works, telecom ducts etc.

The Senior Civil Engineer will be responsible for supervising and managing civil engineering works related to the Sewer Scheme Supervision Project. This role requires an experienced engineer with extensive knowledge of sewer network construction and infrastructure projects in the GCC region
- Oversee the construction of sewer networks, including pipeline laying, manhole construction, and micro-tunneling.

- Monitoring & maintaining the quality of work assigned to the team.
- Providing all necessary progress reports on a regular & required basis.
- Following & implementing relevant requirements of the Environment/Health/Safety/Quality manual.
The ideal candidate would have 2 - 4 years of working experience as a Carpentry Supervisor and possess a Bahrain Driving License.
