Objective of the role
To ensure the right level of skills, knowledge, and motivation throughout the organization through structured assessment, development, training, and coaching.
Primary Responsibilities
- Define training and development needs for the organization and front liners at all (STO) levels.
- Ensure a competency-based approach to learning and development.
- Identify training needs at organizational and individual levels and fulfill them through internal or external training.
- Liaise with external training providers or ensure delegates do so.
- Develop and manage internal training staff, including coaches.
- Develop training content and courses.
- Conduct training sessions and assessments.
- Consult with the organization on training and development issues.
- Plan and coordinate training with stakeholders.
Experience and Qualifications
Experience is more important than education, though an MBA or similar qualification is preferred. Candidates should possess some or all of the following experience:
- Experience in a training position, with knowledge of sales and customer service is mandatory.
- Experience with development/career plans, assessments, gap analysis, etc., is advantageous.
- Content development experience.
- Management development experience.
- Personal profiling.
- Coaching experience.
- People performance management.
Arabic language skills are an advantage but not mandatory. Excellent English and communication skills are essential.

The duties and responsibilities of the CYP Assistant Training Specialist can be grouped into categories, including training, classroom and program support, compliance, and additional responsibilities. Each is described below.
**Training - **Assists in the development of a CYP training plan and assists with identifying and addressing training need. Assist with orientation training for new CYP employees. Assists in execution of Standardized Module Training and completion of orientation, initial, an ongoing annual training.
Assist in maintaining training records and individual training plans and preparing training status reports. Assists in ensuring completion and documentation of required monthly training. Works with CYP Program Assistants to ensure modules are completed. Encourages and supports of continuing higher education of employees and providers. Provides information about the Child Development Associate (CDA), the Military School-Age Credential (MSA), and higher level opportunities. Mentors employees in this effort.
**Classroom/Program Support - **Assists in supporting and implementing the required Navy curriculum to be used by CYP (i.e., supports implementation and execution of the Navy standardized curriculum within the Child Development Center (CDC), including assisting CY Program Assistants and Leaders by documenting observations and assessments, evaluating classroom environments, reviewing weekly
activity plans, and providing additional training when needed). Assists in ensuring the quality and consistency of developmental programming to include environment, equipment, materials, program structure, curriculum, risk management practices, and oversight and coordination of activity schedules and lesson plans. Assists in coordinating programming that supports the children and youth's physical, social/emotional, cognitive and language
development regardless of setting or length of time in care. Completes monthly classroom observations and assists in providing feedback.
Role models appropriate behaviors and techniques working with children and youth. Assist in selecting developmentally appropriate toys, materials,
and equipment. Helps to maintain a resource file library to aid in preparing lesson plans and activity schedules and to assist with training

Incumbent is a mandatory reporter to Family Advocacy and Child Protective Services as prescribed by local policy in the case of suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Must satisfactorily complete all background checks for child care positions, including fingerprint checks, a Tier 1 with Child Care check, Tier 3 if applicable, and a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check.

- Ability to sustain considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.

- Ability to complete required training certificates, and maintain certifications or credentials required by Federal, State, and/or national accreditation institutions used as part of DoD's Child and Youth Programs.
